Stuart Mallinson
Principal Electrical Engineer
Stuart has extensive experience in large scale electricity generation, transmission, and system control. He brings a broad knowledge of wind farm operation and maintenance, regulation, noise and power compliance. His early experience was in the UK, in nuclear generation and steam plant, UK Grid system operations, major infrastructure project and outage management, and technical assessments.
In Australia, he is well known for his hands-on involvement in the construction and commissioning of energy assets including onshore wind resources. Stuart has acted as High Voltage Operating Authority, where he developed and implemented processes and procedures for numerous wind farms and associated substations across Victoria, ACT, NSW, and South Australia. He has played a pivotal role in establishing inspection and maintenance procedures, conducting operational training, and developing comprehensive documentation.
Stuart's career commenced in the UK, as a nuclear physicist and later transitioned to electrical engineering. His roles included technical plant engineer and control room supervisor at a 1320 MW plant. He was seconded to the NationalGrid Co to assist in the development and delivery of NETA (New Electricity Trading Arrangements). His role as an Energy Schedule Engineer at the UK National control room in Wokingham provided him with a comprehensive understanding of National scheduling and dispatch.
Stuart has leveraged this experience to successfully carry out power quality and hold point testing in the Australian wind industry, providing valuable support to utilities interfacing with The Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO).
Stuart's knack for leading and executing large-scale engineering projects became evident as he led several main plant outages throughout his career. His expertise was further called upon to recover a stalled outage program following major technical issues at a nuclear power plant in 2010. Subsequently, Stuart was seconded to the TWICE project at 'Ringhals' Nuclear Power Plant in Sweden as part of a World Association of Nuclear Operators (WANO) technical assist.
