Background
Health, safety and emergency first response training is mandatory across most industries and is required to be refreshed on a regular or annual basis. The purpose of this training is to ensure that workers have the ability to respond, with purpose and confidence, to an emergency at their place of work.
The challenge for Training Providers is to deliver this Compliance training in a format that is interesting, thought provoking and, most importantly, provides the attendee with useful and potentially life saving knowledge.
First Response program
Thomson Bridge is always seeking new approaches to training delivery. We wanted to test a more "scenario based" approach to First Responder" training.
Firstly, we invested in new equipment. We chose Laerdal Medical's resuscitation dummy and defibrillator system, which provides immediate digital interactive reporting on your technique. We also selected a digital fire training system, called BullsEye, designed by Haagen, the global leaders in fire extinguisher and emergency response training hardware.
We invited clients whose roles included L&D specialists, together with operational professionals to attend a pilot First Response Program. The day included presentations, videos, and then hands on circuit classes, where we practiced CPR, manual handling exercises (with live video), LV panel rescue drills and fire extinguisher exercises. After lunch, all these skills were put to the test, as the "First Response" teams responded to emergency scenarios.
Our training team is passionate about providing a stimulating environment where attendees can practice, improve and test the skills required to respond to an emergency situation.
Testimonial - “A great example of training that is interesting and invigorating. Refresher training can become routine. The way you set up the morning and had us practice the various aspects of rescue with the digital aids was fun and helped us improve our technique. The staged ‘life like’ scenario simulating the unpredictability of an emergency situation was challenging ..and has very much imprinted the learning. I will never forget it and feel I can transfer the learnings to better respond to any other kind of real emergency.”
