The course is designed for NSW Approved Service Providers (ASP) provides the learners with the necessary knowledge of the electricity supply industry (ESI) safety rules and codes of practice for work on or near electrical apparatus, and understand procedures to gain access for work on or near electrical network infrastructure.

This refresher program is required for Endeavour Energy accreditation and authorisation. There are two parts to the Endeavour Energy ESR Refresher Assessment: Each learner will need to know which assessment they are required to complete prior to enrolment.

  • Part 1 - All persons must complete these questions
  • Part 2 - To be completed by electrically qualified persons and electrical apprentices

This online self-paced refresher course (approved by Endeavour Energy) meets the requirements of the Endeavour Energy Electrical Safety Rules (ESR) November 2019

It applies ESI Safety Rules, Codes of Practice and enterprise-based procedures for Work on or Near Electrical Apparatus for Endeavour Energy. The ESR governs Endeavour Energy’s work practices to ensure all employees or persons, including visitors and contractors, comply with Endeavour Energy’s safety policies and procedures. A safe workplace is everyone’s responsibility.

This refresher course is intended to complement your own experience and knowledge of working safely around electricity.

Course aim

This Competency Standard Unit covers the knowledge and application of Electricity Supply Industry (ESI) safety rules and codes of practice for work on or near electrical apparatus.

It includes the application of safety rules, codes of practice and enterprise based procedures and how they apply in the context of distribution work functions. It encompasses responsibilities for, health, safety and risk management processes at all operative levels and adherence to safety practices as part of the normal way of doing work.

Target learner group

The Endeavour Energy ESR (Refresher) applies to all persons, employees, contractors and Accredited Service Providers (ASP) working on or near HV and LV electrical apparatus associated with Endeavour Energy’s electrical network.

Learning outcomes

On successful completion of the course a participant will be able to:

  • Understand and apply relevant safety rules, codes of practice and procedures
  • Identify and obtain hazards and risk control measures for specific work functions/areas
  • Understand and correctly apply the requirement for access authority/work permits required for work from appropriate personnel in accordance with established procedures
  • Prepare, assess and monitor safety systems and equipment for work to minimise and control hazards
  • Understand and correctly follow workplace procedures and work instructions for controlling risk
  • Follow specific workplace systems and equipment isolation procedures
  • Identify restricted workplace areas including ingress and egress procedures
  • Understand and Identify Safe Approach Distance procedures.

Equipment & PPE

Students must have the ability to perform fundamental tasks on their computer or Tablet. This includes understanding certain software, applications, programs, and tools (e.g., Microsoft applications, Adobe Acrobat Reader, internet search engines). Learner will need to have the necessary IT Equipment such as:

  • Internet connection,
  • A desktop, laptop, iPad or Android tablet equipped with a webcam, speaker and microphone (mobile phone is NOT a proper device), and
  • The device is suitable to run Google Chrome browser or Microsoft Teams app.

Assessment approach

This is a self-paced online course with its online assessment. The assessment references the Endeavour Energy Electrical Safety Rules November 2019 The assessment is designed to work through the relevant sections of the Rules. Students are required to read each question and select the correct answer in the assessment. Allow approximately 60 minutes to complete your online assessment.

Course Entry Requirements

To participate in this course, learners are required to:

  • be literate in spoken English and competent in reading, writing, and numeracy.
  • hold UETTDRRF01 or UETDRMP002 - Apply ESI safety rules, codes of practice and procedures for work on or near electrical apparatus.
  • Must have completed the Endeavour Energy Electrical Safety Rules November 2019 (initial). Only students who have completed their initial or refresher training within 3 years the of course date are eligible to attend a refresher course.

Accreditation Status

Non-accredited.
Upon successful completion, learners will receive Certificate of Completion - Endeavour Energy - Electrical Safety Rules - Refresher
