GWO Basic Safety Training (BST) - Adaptive Learning

Description

GWO BST is designed for operators, technicians and specialists working in wind turbines, and will assist participants to develop, practice and maintain safe work practices, during rescue and evacuation activities.

This course is delivered by experienced technical professionals, bringing a depth of industry knowledge and experience.

Accreditation

RelyOn Australia is accredited by the Global Wind Organisation to deliver GWO BST. The course units are also mapped to the relevant AQF Units of Competency.

On successful completion of the course, participants will be awarded GWO certification for Basic Safety Training and Statements of Attainment. Results will be recorded on the GWO global database (WINDA).

Course Outcomes

  • Identify and mitigate risks and hazards in a wind farm.
  • Understand the role and responsibilities of a first aider.
  • Perform CPR according to ARC guidelines.
  • Apply appropriate first aid procedures.
  • Recognise and respond to life-threatening emergencies until emergency services arrive.
  • Effectively confine an emergency scene.
  • Correctly perform LV rescue.
  • Correctly perform rescue from heights.
  • Correctly respond to a fire emergency (confining and extinguishing).
  • Effectively review and communicate details of the incident.
  • Appropriately debrief from the incident.
  • Apply correct manual handling techniques.

Delivery

The GWO BST - Adaptive Learning course uses a blended approach, incorporating RelyOn’s innovative Adaptive Learning platform, Rhapsode, and a face-to-face practical assessment session.

The Adaptive Learning platform offers self-paced online learning, which tailors content to each participant’s knowledge level. After completing the online modules and knowledge assessments, participants will attend a face-to-face session for practical assessment. This flexible approach ensures a comprehensive learning experience, combining the convenience of digital learning with hands-on practice.

Course Entry Requirements

BST Modules may potentially be physically demanding. A medical declaration is required prior to undertaking the course, to ensure students are physically capable to perform the physical tasks, particularly the practical activities associated with working at heights.

Each attendee will be required to provide their unique GWO WINDA ID when enrolling in the training. For more information, please visit WINDA.

Equipment & PPE

Participants are required to have the following to participate in this course:

  • Personal Protective Equipment (e.g. Hard Hat, Safety Footwear, Approved Hi-Vis Clothing, Safety Glasses)
  • Stationery (e.g. Pen, Pencil, etc.)

Assessment Approach

Participants will be assessed using a combination of the following methods:

  • Theory Assessment completed online (e.g. Short Answer Questions, Multiple Choice)
  • Direct Observation/Practical Assessment (e.g. Workplace, Simulated Environment, Role Play/Scenario)

Accreditation Status

Nationally recognised training. 

Upon successful completion, learners will receive a statement of attainment.
