High Voltage Awareness

Description

The course is designed to provide the learner with the knowledge and skills to enable them to broadly understand High Voltage plant and the associated hazards. This course includes coverage of compliance with working safely up to the defined safe approach distance (SAD) near energised electrical apparatus and preparation of risk assessment control measures that encompass job safety assessment.

It does not include any work that is or may be performed by other competent operatives within the defined safe working zone as stipulated by relevant state or territory regulatory agencies/bodies, local government legislation, industry bipartite bodies, guidelines/codes of practices or other related requirements for safe work and access near live electrical and mechanical apparatus.

These programs can be tailored to meet the requirements of the audience, your Company and Site. If required, a practical plant demonstration can be accommodated into the day.

Please note, this is a non-accredited course and upon successful completion, learners will receive a Certificate of Completion - High Voltage Awareness.

Courses Commence at 8.00am - 4.00pm AEDT

Course aim

The course aim is to provide participants with a broad understanding of High Voltage plant and the hazards associated with it.

Target learner group

The target learners for this instance of course delivery are employees required to work safely up to the defined safe approach distance (SAD) near energised electrical apparatus, including electrical power-lines, for non-electrical workers in Transmission, Distribution, Rail Traction, Telecommunications and Vegetation Management Control industry sectors.

It includes work functions that may be performed, such as vegetation control, scaffolding, rigging, painting and/or any other activity that requires working safely and complying with requirements and/or established procedures near live electrical apparatus by a non-electrical worker.

Relevant safety related training programs are often mandated by regulation or industry agreements and documented in state codes of practice. Due to the significant safety risks in the industry these employees work within highly proceduralised workplaces with mature workplace safety systems.

Workers in the industry are required to regularly complete workplace safety risk assessment and work planning documentation, and therefore bring a solid foundational understanding of risk assessment and workplace safety documentation concepts and practices to the program.
