UET30721 Certificate III in ESI - Rail Traction

Description

This qualification provides the skills and knowledge to work in the electrical supply industry (ESI) as a Rail Traction Lineworker. This qualification covers the installation, maintenance and inspection of overhead poles/structures, conductors, cables and rail traction wiring systems, including associated equipment used in the rail traction industry. It also includes the maintenance of bonds and the operation of rail traction height access equipment.

The application of the skills and knowledge described within the units in this qualification may require a licence/registration to practice in the workplace. Other conditions may also apply under state and territory legislative and regulatory licensing requirements which must be confirmed prior to commencing this qualification.

Learners are required to have the following to participate in this course:

  • Personal Protective Equipment (e.g. Hard Hat, Safety Footwear, Approved Hi-Vis Clothing, Safety Glasses)
  • Heights equipment (e.g. Harness, ascender, descender, as per company procedures)
  • Stationary (e.g. Pen, Pencil, etc.)

Assessment approach

Learners will be assessed using a combination of the following methods:

  • Theory/Written Assessment (e.g. Short Answer Questions, Multiple Choice, Verbal Questioning Interview)
  • Direct Observation/Practical Assessment (e.g. Workplace, Simulated Environment, Role Play/Scenario)
  • Portfolio (e.g. Logbook, Third Party Reports)

To participate in this course, learners are required to:

  • have current certification in the required prerequisites.
  • be literate in spoken English and competent in reading, writing, and numeracy.
  • be sufficiently fit to participate.

Accreditation Status

Nationally recognised training.
Upon successful completion, learners will receive a qualification.
