Introduction
Global Wind Organisation (GWO) Basic Safety Training (BST) is targeted at personnel who work in the wind industry, and will have their duties in a wind turbine environment, usually in physical contact with a wind turbine. Upon completion of the BST, Attendees will possess an awareness of the hazards encountered when working within the wind industry and how to control and mitigate these hazards. The BST will also equip participants with the knowledge and skills to appropriately respond to an emergency and to increase their safety through proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), emergency equipment and procedures. The program includes fire awareness, manual handling, first aid and working at heights.
Our role
Thomson Bridge supports the GWO mission to strive for an injury free work environment in the wind industry. Our Company is GWO certified for the Basic Safety Training modules in First Aid, Fire Awareness, Manual Handling and Working at Heights.
Background
The Global Wind Organisation (GWO) is a non-profit organisation of wind turbine owners and manufacturers. The GWO promotes an injury free work environment in the wind turbine industry, through cooperation among the members, in setting common standards in safety training and emergency procedures.
The secretariat opened in 2014 and is hosted by the Danish Wind Industry Association.
In response to the demand for recognisable Basic Safety Training (BST) in the industry, the members of the GWO have developed a safety standard. This standard ensures that the work of any certified Training Provider is competent and proficient. To obtain GWO approval, Training Providers are subject to an in-depth audit process performed by an accredited Certification Body.
